Jack White‘s band The Dead Weather will record and release a series of two-song singles from now through 2015 via White’s Third Man Records label, with a full-length album being released at that point which will collect all the singles as well as “many more album-only tracks,” according to a statement issued by Third Man. The first seven-inch single, featuring songs titled “Open Up (That’s Enough)” and “Rough Detective,” will be exclusively released in the next package from Third Man’s Vault subscription series.
- The statement said that the songs are “unlike anything else the band has ever done and are both ample reminders of the ferocity of this motley collection of low-lifes, grifters and ne’er-do-wells. These songs are not throw-aways. These songs are not demos. These songs are not outtakes.”
- The single is being released on yellow vinyl and will also be made available digitally after Vault packages have been shipped to subscribers.
- Speaking of that Vault package, it will also contain a live LP and DVD of White’s other band, The Raconteurs, performing at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in September 2011. The two 180-gram vinyl LPs come in rawhide and tobacco colored vinyl on disc one and gold and oil colored vinyl on disc two.
- You can sign up for a subscription from now through October 31st and get the package containing the Dead Weather single and Raconteurs releases.
