Pearl Jam will launch its 10th studio album, Lightning Bolt, on October 15th with a pop-up store in New York City. According to HenneMusic, the shop will be open for just one day and will offer a number of other Pearl Jam items for sale in addition to the new record, including limited-edition Pearl Jam T-shirts. In addition, Lightning Bolt cover artist Don Pendleton will be painting live in the store, which will be located at 446 Broadway and will open Tuesday, October 15 at 12:00 a.m.
- Lightning Bolt follows up Pearl Jam’s 2009 effort, Backspacer. The first two single from the disc are “Mind Your Manners” and “Sirens.”
- Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard told us “It’s very difficult to set out to do something and achieve it, as opposed to just each song, try to make it as good as you can. We set out more like, we’re gonna make a record and we know we’re gonna — everyone’s gonna write some songs, and we’re gonna try to do the best for each of those songs and then we’re gonna see what we’ve got at the end and figure out how to put ’em together, you know. It’s much less planned than you would imagine.”
- Pearl Jam kicks off a North American tour on Friday (October 11th) in Pittsburgh, with the first leg ending the weekend of November 1st at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans. The trek’s second half starts on November 15th in Dallas, wrapping on December 6th in Pearl Jam’s hometown of Seattle.
