Producer Howie Weinberg is currently remastering the classic 1998 Smashing Pumpkins album Adore, and he recently took to Reddit to partake in a Q&A session with fans, sharing some nuggets about his time with Billy Corgan and what we can expect from the upcoming reissue.
On the topic of remastering “Adore”: “Not sure why it has to be remastered because the original is perfect:) All marketing decisions… how do sell a record twice – remaster it:) They will be releasing the mono versions and 5 extra CDs of unreleased material, live stuff etc… Not sure when.”
Praising Billy Corgan: “Billy is one of the smartest dudes in the record business—he just keeps getter smarter.”
On the musician who is most fun to work with: “I love working with Billy Corgan because the two of us played air guitar together all day to his songs and LL Cool J because when we did a session he would rap along in the studio. Have a ton more!! I don’t have any worst ones I just have some not so great ones…”
On the topic of mastering originally unreleased songs: “Yes but can’t give more info now and it changes.”
