It may not be impossible to see the two members of Daft Punk without their robot helmets on, but it’s still a rarity. Nevertheless, TMZ captured video footage of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter unmasked, with the French duo clad in baseball caps and T-shirts as they waited at LAX airport in Los Angeles.
- The pair were presumably returning home to France after coming to Los Angeles for the 56th annual Grammy Awards, where they made one of the few TV appearances of their career while scooping up five trophies.
- The electronic dance music pioneers walked away with Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Get Lucky,” while also earning Album Of The Year, Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for last year’s Random Access Memories.
- “Get Lucky” is the duo’s first mainstream hit single ever, reaching the Top 10 on the Alternative chart and crossing over to other radio formats as well.
- Random Access Memories debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart last May, selling 339,000 copies in its first week of release — more than the 125,000 copies their previous CD, 2005’sHuman After All, sold in its entire run.
