Last year, The Black Keys spent $300 to sponsor a little league team in their Ohio hometown. This year, they’re selling t-shirts and hoodies to raise money for the West Akron Baseball League.
The clothes were designed by the band’s creative director, drummer Patrick Carney’s brother Michael, and are available at the band’s official store (http://store.theblackkeys.com/akron.html). The league will use the money to purchase uniforms, replace benches and backstops, upgrade equipment and minimize registration fees.
“Dan and I played little league when we were kids before we got into music; it was a really positive hobby that kept us from sitting around watching TV,” Carney says. “We are proud to be sponsoring W.A.B.L. to hopefully offset some of the league’s expenses and get more kids outside having fun.”
