Soundgarden leads the lineup of acts who will appear on the eighth season of Guitar Center Sessions, the popular concert and interview program that airs on Direct TV and AXS TV. In addition to Soundgarden, who kick off the season this Sunday (May 4th), the new series of episodes will also feature performances from Chvrches, 311, Phantogram
Soundgarden is enjoying a new run of success following its 2010 reunion and the 2012 arrival of the King Animal album. Singer Chris Cornell says he always felt sure there was still an audience out there for the band:
“I mean, even before we announced it, I got this feeling that there was gonna be an audience for it. I guess for me, there’s always a little bit of doubt about everything, but I felt confident that we had a place in the world as a band and, you know, it’s turned out to be true.”
- Artists who have previously appeared on Guitar Center Sessions include Social Distortion, Jane’s Addiction, Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, Atlas Genius, Weezer and many others.
- The first six episodes of the new season were filmed live in Austin during South By Southwest, with the rest taped at Guitar Center in Hollywood.
- Soundgarden issued a statement saying, “Our first ever trip out to SXSW as a band was a special part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for Superunknown. The rooftop show for Guitar Center was truly memorable.”
