In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney addresses the feud he found himself in with Justin Bieber fans in February 2013 and ends up trashing Bieber over it. At the time, Carney was asked by TMZ if Bieber should have felt snubbed about not getting a Grammy nomination. Carney answered, “Grammys are for music, not for the money, and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy.” The next day, Bieber tweeted, “The Black Keys drummer should be slapped around haha” and unleashed the wrath of the Bieliebers.
Now Carney says, “Justin Bieber, like a f***ing irresponsible a*****e, sicced 40 million Twitter followers on me because I paid him a compliment he didn’t understand. I’m saying that he should be grateful that he has a f***ing career in music. And he shouldn’t be f***ing telling his followers to slap me, and then also be doing anti-bullying bulls***. It’s so irresponsible.”
- Carney adds, “I just started getting called a f****t, you know? All these kids who don’t know what they’re saying are saying all of these things that are actually wildly inappropriate. And these kids are just dumbasses.”
- He continues, “Justin Bieber is a f***ing moron . . . No one is doing him any favors, you know? And honestly, I don’t dislike his music. I don’t listen to his music, but he needs to not conduct himself that way. Like, really, you make millions of dollars playing music, you should feel f***ing lucky.”
- Carney concludes by saying that Bieber manipulates his fans every time he gets himself in trouble again, explaining, “You should look at his tweets the next day. It’s always like, ‘I love you guys so much, always believe, never stop believing.’ He’s feeding them the Kool-Aid more and more . . . whoever’s watching him and is like ‘that manipulation is acceptable,’ should be really ashamed of themselves.”
- The Black Keys release their new album, Turn Blue, on Tuesday (May 13th), but we expect that Carney’s fresh comments will have a lot of Beliebers seeing red.
