Linkin Park has unveiled a lyric video for the song “Rebellion,” which features a guest appearance from System Of A Down guitarist Daron Malakian. Linkin Park MC and producer Mike Shinoda told us how Malakian got involved with the track:
“One of their managers is actually a childhood friend of mine and I gave him a call and I said, you know, I just, I love what Daron does and I’d love to see if he was interested in just coming over and playing a little bit or if he had any ideas for any songs that we could get together on. He came in and we essentially ended up deciding on something that he had brought in. He brought in this cool riff and it was a really collaborative song. I mean, it was just, at the end of the day, it’s like, you know, I don’t know who did what, we were just kind of like all in the mix.”
- “Rebellion” is taken from Linkin Park’s new album, The Hunting Party, which arrives on June 17th.
- Other guests on the album include Tom Morello, rapper Rakim and Helmet main man Page Hamilton.
- “Rebellion” is the fourth song to be revealed from the new disc, with “Wasteland” also posted online earlier this week and two singles — “Guilty All The Same” and “Until It’s Gone” — already released as well.
- Linkin Park will hit the road later this summer on the Carnivores Tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and AFI.
