The Red Hot Chili Peppers are officially back in the studio working on their 11th album. According to Loudwire, the band posted a new video on Instagram featuring images of the studio recording desk, the speakers, and members of the band working on music. The disc will be the band’s first set of new material since 2011’s I’m With You.
The Chili Peppers have not announced a producer for the album, but drummer Chad Smith told us a short time ago that the producer sometimes comes along a little later:
“The songs and our ideas kind of dictate that, and that comes down the road a little bit until we start seeing how the songs take shape and stuff, so that always is part of the process as well. But we’ll figure it out.”
- The Chili Peppers’ regular producer for the past 23 years has been Rick Rubin, who first worked with them on 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik and has produced the five subsequent records.
- The Chili Peppers have been in the public eye a lot since the beginning of 2014, starting with a performance at the Super Bowl at the end of January.
- Chad Smith recently took part in an epic drum battle with Will Ferrell on The Tonight Show, while bassist Flea signed a deal to write his autobiography and found time to record with a new project called Antemasque.
