Hot off a blistering set at Field Trip Music & Arts Festival this past weekend, Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun continue to celebrate their acclaimed self-titled debut album with a run of summer tour dates across Canada. Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun’s inaugural Toronto performance was an exhilarating arrival for the storied young band, with a set of inspired originals and brash covers of Toronto hardcore band F***ed Up, Roky Erickson, and Neil Young. Downie also joined F***ed Up and festival headliners Broken Social Scene on vocals during their sets. Now, Gord Downie, The Sadies, And The Conquering Sun hit the highway heading west with stops in Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Pemberton, Edmonton and more hitting the stage at both clubs and festivals alike. If the band’s early shows are any indication, it will be loud and legendary.
This fabled project appears after many years and much anticipation, following Gord Downie and The Sadies’ first collaboration on a benefit album for Lake Ontario Waterkeepers in 2006. The long-time friends sculpted the album over the course of the next seven years, recording with Ken Friesen at The Bathouse in Bath, Ontario. All songs are written and produced by Gord Downie and The Sadies. The record was mixed by Bob Rock at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver.
