Jack White‘s second solo album has earned the former White Stripes frontman his second Number One debut on the Billboard album chart. White’s Lazaretto topped the chart on Wednesday (June 18th), selling 138,000 copies in its first week of release. His first solo effort, 2012’sBlunderbuss, also moved around 138,000 copies when it entered the chart in the top spot.
- Lazaretto also set a record for the largest sales week for a vinyl album since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.
- The vinyl edition, which came with unusual bonus features like three different playing speeds and hidden extra tracks, moved 40,000 copies to land at Number One on Billboard‘s vinyl chart as well.
- The previous record holder was Pearl Jam‘s Vitalogy, which sold 34,000 copies on vinyl back in 1994.
