In a recent interview (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04lcct3), Courtney Love revealed that Billy Corgan wrote many Smashing Pumpkins songs about… you guessed it, her.
Which songs? Well, to start with, all of Siamese Dream except for “Spaceboy” (which is about Billy’s brother), and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’s “Tonight Tonight” and “Bodies.”
“They’re not all about me,” Love continued,” “one’s about me and Trent [Reznor], and how mad [Corgan] was about that, and that one’s called ‘Where Boys Fear To Tread.'” Love went on to explain that Corgan eventually found a different muse for the music on Melon Collie when “another girl started coming around.” When Corgan “stopped writing about me,” she added, he “stopped having hits.”
