Song writer, producer & political activist Bob Geldof has organized and released the latest reincarnation of his ground-breaking charity song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”.
Now a holiday tradition, all the proceeds from the current version (the third in over a 30-year period), will be put towards the fight to the stop the spread of Ebola and to help provide care for its victims.
Geldof enlisted a selection of (mostly) British stars to re-animate his worldwide smash from 1984. The list of musical heavy-hitters include Chris Martin (Coldplay), Bono (U2) , as well as band members from Bastille and Elbow, and the list goes on.
According to Geldof, the charity song (recorded just last week) has already had a serious impact. He says the single raised $1 million in the first five minutes of its release. The song is now available for purchase on iTunes.
