Remember that time that Robson Square and the Art Gallery looked like North Korea?! The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco filmed in town last in year and has caused great consternation with the country of North Korea. NOBODY mocks Dear Leader!
Sony Pictures Entertainment was the victim of a recent hack-attack that folks seem to think might have been motivated by the film’s subject matter. Seth and James play tv hosts that the CIA recruits to interview their biggest fan, Kim Jong Un in North Korea. Obviously, hijinks ensue….
The budget for the film was leaked in the hack and the most interesting detail was the $250 set aside for a “table of weed, coke, pills and panties”. They came in under budget at just $241 in the end.
Kevin Federline – best known as Britney Spears ex – was paid $5000 for his cameo in the film. Not bad for what was maybe a couple days work?
As writer/producer/director, Seth Rogen billed a cool $8.4 million plus compensation as opposed to James Franco’s paltry $6.5 million for only being a star. Were they worth it? We’ll find out when the movie opens at Christmas. The promotion machine has kicked into high gear with James Franco hosting this weekend’s Saturday Night Live. If he talks about the experience, wonder if Vancouver’s weed will make the opening monologue? If not, our biggest export just might help make the episode really funny for a change?!
