When I first read the Billy Corgan quote ‘He and I were the top two scribes, and everybody else was a distant third’ (regarding Kurt Cobain), I thought ‘oh here we go, Billy Corgan spouting some serious bull s*** again’. But then after thinking about it for a minute, I thought ‘maybe he’s onto something’. Siamese Dream is an insanely well crafted album. Sonic structure, arrangements, melodies…from front to back it kicks some serious ass. But then I thought about the other records that came out in 1993…TOOL Undertow, Pearl Jam Vs, and I realized that my gut instinct was right.

Billy Corgan wrote some killer stuff in his day, but he also wrote a bunch of garbage, and there’s no way he was any better than the rest of the world other than Kurt Cobain in 1993. Save your self righteous rhetoric for the albums Billy. Read the Spin Magazine article here.
