There has been a disturbing trend with one of rock’s all time great songs over the last fifteen years or so. For some reason that’s completely unknown to me, the powers that be have decided that Guns N Roses ‘Sweet Child O Mine’ deserves to be sh*t kicked, turned on it’s head, and embarrassed over and over again to the point that hearing the original can’t even salvage it anymore.
It started in 1999 with this abomination:
Then Will Ferrell and his co-horts thought the already super funny movie ‘Step Brothers’ needed to give the song a few slaps. (For the record, the scene is funny, but it’s definitely hard not to hear this when listening to the original):
And now to cap it all off, the Piece De Resistance, somehow the leader of our country figured he wouldn’t look like a total **** when he sang it at a recent Christmas party. Yes this actually happened.
As I said before, there’s no point in even trying to listen to the original…you can’t undo what has been done. R.I.P. Sweet Child O Mine.
