Two of the best days last summer were when we hit the Squamish Valley Music Festival. We spent one of the days drinking at a super secret beach before the music got going, and hit the show around 3PM for more drinks and some good tunes. That’s basically all a festival should be about….shouldn’t it?
Unfortunately there are people who use the modern music festival as nothing more than a stage to show just how festival savvy they are. ‘Oh look at me, I’m in the crowd on someone’s shoulders.’ ‘I’ve been to sooooo many festivals this year, oh my god.’ ‘What is that person wearing??’
That last one has got me really scratching my head. Who cares what someone else is wearing?! When did a music festival become a fashion show? Give me a pair of cargo shorts and a tank top (as per the pic with my wife above), and I’m set for the day. However, the fashion show is alive and well, and now with this year’s Coachella Festival, is a complete lineup of Coachella clothing. Forget about the music, this is how you peacock yourself out and become one of the cool kids this year. Get noticed..be cool.
Good luck with that. You’ll catch us looking like functional dirt bags dancing our faces off in the beer garden.
