Nate Mendel came up with Seattle’s Sunny Day Real Estate and moved over to the arena filling anthemic rock of the Foo Fighters where he currently plays bass with Dave & Co.
He is now sharing his new solo work as Lieutenant.
Talking to NME, Nate says, “It’s less a question of ‘why now?’ and more ‘why only now?’… That’s how I feel now the ball is finally rolling and these songs are finally starting to get out there.”
The feature song is called “Belle Epoque.” The belle epoque was a period in European history that ranged from the 1870s to 1914 where all the major nations weren’t grinding themselves into dust with crushing wars. In Paris during this time, the arts flourished.
Listening to this single from Nate Mendel’s Lieutenant, I am hearing more Sunny Day than I am Foo Fighters.
Go with yourself.
