Looks like BC wines will be making their way into local grocery stores as early as April 1st (2015).
According to our sister station CKNW (AM 980) : “It won’t be official until April 1st but CKNW has been leaked emails indicating two Metro Vancouver grocery stores will be selling wine on their shelves next month. Jim Pattison’s Save on Foods on 152nd street in Surrey will have wine on its shelves soon after a deal was reached with the BC Wine Institute. Another grocery store in downtown Vancouver is in the wine pipeline.”
Last year the province announced that existing liquor store licence holders would be able to relocate and set up stores inside eligible grocery stores, but only if they were not within one kilometer of an existing liquor store.
So how does this affect the pricing? Or smaller stores?
