Somewhere along the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Kevin Costner saga Waterworld is real.
Enter Catherine King and Wayne Adams. These two have built the most glorious float home, off the grid, in a remote bay north-east of Tofino.
The mostly magenta and turquoise floating village is called “Freedom Cove” and is made up of 12 platforms. The float home features 5 greenhouses, a lighthouse tower/guest room, a studio, art gallery, generator shed, and a dance floor. Strap a 100,000 watt radio transmitter to a barge and hook up two turntables and a microphone to the generator and I’m there!
The couple live almost entirely off-the-grid; eating what they grow in the greenhouses and what they can harvest from the sea. Drinking water comes from a near by waterfall or the rain. Oh god, could you imagine the cup of coffee you could brew.
It kinda looks like a hippy Disney theme park?
