Happy Record Store Day!
Today is the day that record stores across North America will be releasing limited edition vinyl from some of your favourite bands.
To mark this joyous occasion, the Foo Fighters are issuing a collection of rare, early demos, but lead singer Dave Grohl says that wasn’t originally what the band wanted to release.
His original idea was a live recording of the band’s first gig played at a downtown club in Seattle in 1995.
Grohl says, “There’s a (bootleg) tape of that performance…somebody has it. I think I know who has it, and we’ve been trying to get it, and that’s actually what I wanted to release – but we just couldn’t get our f*cking hands on it.”
This year marks the 20th anniversary of both the group’s debut album, Foo Fighters, as well as its first performance.
