There is a video bouncing around of a Toronto FC supporter interrupting a reporter during a live broadcast to shout the FHRITP bit.
Since this video has gone viral, our friends in London, Ontario at 980 News/Talk/Sports are reporting that the man at the center of the video has been fired from his job at Hydro One.
Here is a statement from Hydro One via the Toronto Star:
“Regarding the incident at the Toronto FC game between a (CityNews) reporter and fans, Hydro One is taking steps to terminate the employee involved for violating our Code of Conduct,” said Daffyd Roderick, director, corporate affairs for Hydro One.
“Respect for all people is engrained in the Code of Conduct and in our Core Values and we are committed to a work environment where discrimination or harassment of any type is met with zero tolerance.”
The employee is identified as Shawn Simoes (he is wearing yellow and talks about England and vibrators). he was an assistant network manager with Hydro One bringing in a princely $106,000 a year. Wow. I hope he got a lot of laughs out of the joke.
