Back in the day there was a DIY club in San Francisco that all of the punk bands took turns playing shows at. Green Day pretty much grew up there, and before they signed a major label contract, they played there frequently. Punk rock kids being the elitists they are, decided that Green Day didn’t belong at 924 Gilman anymore, so they were banned from playing there after they made it in the big leagues. Fast forward to a couple of nights ago, and because of a benefit concert, Green Day was once again allowed to set foot on the Gilman stage. Because someone needed money raised for them, the powers that be decided Green Day was okay to come back. Luckily for them, Green Day doesn’t seem to hold a grudge as much as I would have.
