It’s been a pretty amazing year for Green Day.
Despite their 3 year hiatus, the band has managed to earn both a Tony AND a Grammy award for their musical ‘American Idiot’, and just last month, they were inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.
To celebrate, the guys decided to sit down and start working on a new album.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said, “Yeah, I mean, we’re going to take our time. We’re not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we’re honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album.”
While he didn’t mention a release date, rumour has it that the band will most likely launch their new album some time next year.
