Metro Vancouver residents have spoken and the answer is NO.
A 0.5-per-cent transit tax increase to pay for $7.5-billion dollars worth of transit and transportation projects over the next ten years has been rejected.
The goal was to use the tax to raise $250 million annually to put towards expanded service, including more buses, better road maintenance, a subway along the Broadway corridor in Vancouver and light rail in Surrey.
The vote was 62% no, and 38% yes.
