In January, surviving Mad Season members Mike McCready and Barret Martin reunited for a one-off concert featuring orchestral and solo arrangements of Mad Season songs, and they got some help from Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, ex-Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, McCready’s Pearl Jam bandmates Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. August 28th has now been set as the release date for a recording of the show. It’s called Mad Season / Seattle Symphony: Sonic Evolution / January 30, 2015 / Benaroya Hall, and it’ll come out on CD, vinyl, and digital formats with all proceeds benefiting the Seattle Symphony and Vitalogy Foundation.
August 28th will also see the reissue of Mad Season: Live at The Moore, a recording of the final performance to feature the band’s original lineup of McCready, Martin, Layne Staley, and John Baker Saunders. It was originally released on home video in 1995, and this marks the first time the April 29th, 1995 show will be available on 12-inch vinyl. The two-LP set also includes new liner notes written by Martin.
You can preorder both releases now through Pearl Jam’s official store
