The Beaverton satirical news site nailed this headline: Actual news story about Conservative MP Ryan Leef campaign signs baffle satirists
As the story goes Carrie Boles was out for a late rainy Whitehorse night bike ride when she noticed some campaign signs for Conservative candidate Ryan Leef. She told the Yukon News, “I decided I would cut out Leef’s name from the signs before putting them back.”
As she was hard at her vandal work, from out of the bushes emerged two men who promptly handcuffed her and placed her in citizens arrest. One of the men was the candidate himself and former MMA-Fighter/corrections officer, Ryan Leef.
Talking to the CBC she said, “I was like, ‘what are you doing sir, out here at 11 o’clock at night in the pouring rain, protecting your campaign signs?'”
Which does seem weird…about as weird as cycling down the highway at 11 o’clock at night in the rain defacing campaign signs.
In the end, this will go down as one of the more colourful chapters of Election 2015.
