Marina Elliott was a PhD student at Simon Fraser University in 2013, when she answered an advertisement from Lee Berger in South Africa, looking for scientists with caving experience to help with a potentially monumental discovery.
Last week was talked about the discovery of a new species called Homo naledi and how it may be related to humans to our evolution. I had a chance to talk to Dr. Marina Elliott and get her experience caving down into a cavern and discovering the remains of Homo naledi.
