Back in 2003/04 when Green Day was recording American Idiot, filmamker John Roeker hung out with the band and captured some footage for a documentary. It is a fly-on-the-wall style of DIY documentary showing the band at a time before arguably their biggest record (Dookie sold more but came out in the 90s when people bought more music..so I don’t know).
In a statement Roeker said, ““It is a film that inspires. It is also a very small film. All it took was a box of tapes and one camera. Going back to the D.I.Y. Ethic that I was raised with. It was also a risk for the band because this album was either going to take them to a higher level or sink them. Either way I was going to document it.”
Can you believe it has been 11 years since American Idiot?
