Finnish punk rockers PKN (Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät) are four musicians who all have Down Syndrome. Some even fall on the autism spectrum. But none of that gets in the way of coming together to throw down some huge punk rock.
The band came together in 2009 and were features in a documentary called The Punk Syndrome, which chronicled the band’s trials of being developmentally disabled. Living in a group home, the frustrations of day-to-day life in Finland, and then raging out playing shows.
And this is the previous song from earlier this year.
Last spring, the band tried to march through Eurovision, the mega European singing contest. Sadly they didn’t make it out of the Finnish semi-finals, but they did succeed at capturing the hearts of many.
Consequence of Sound talked to the band before their Eurovision adventure.
