Finally a book for all us rockers that grew up and moved to the ‘burbs (or for you party kids that need to bring a gift to the next
wake baby shower for your friend).
The book is called What is Punk by Eric Morse and illustrated by Anny Yi. The book is kids sing-songy adventure through punk history, lovingly illustrated with Yi’s claymation style. It looks really cool.
What is Punk is on sale for $11.96…I might just be able to afford that.
Here’s the synopsis than I’ll post some sample art from Anny Yi’s instagram.
What Is Punk? is a must-read pop-culture primer for children—an introduction to the punk revolution, recreated in vivid 3-D clay illustrations and told through rhyming couplets.
From London’s Clash and Sex Pistols to the Ramones’ NYC protopunk, from Iggy Pop to the Misfits, this volume depicts some of our culture’s seminal moments and iconic characters. A delightful read for kids and parents alike, illustrated in a truly unique visual style, What Is Punk? lays the groundwork for the next generation of little punks.
Punks made a lot of noise, / they had something to say. / And just like the boys, / the girls came to play
Siouxsie, Go-Gos, and Blondie, / X-Ray Spex and the Slits / all made a holy racket / with their glitter and their grit.
