It was a rough week for Skytrain. A major incident caused a disruption of downtown service during the afternoon commute. Whenever Skytrain goes down, it’s easy to pile on that old train. But remember when we were like, “they’re building a subway, IN THE SKY?”
The first Skytrains started rumbling down those elevated tracks on December 11th, 1985. Almost 30 years ago! Nuts.
Let’s go back in time with Historical_Vancouver to 1985. Maybe you rode the train? Maybe you got one of these little commemorative postcards?
In 1985…Skytrain went from downtown to New Westminster Station. Now it goes out Richmond, all over Burnaby, Surrey, and they’re expanding to Coquitlam and Port Moody…making it the longest rapid transit line in the country. Neat.
