Phoenix area Men’s League hockey goalie Nathan Schoenfeld was at home last night helping his wife bath their twin two-year-olds when he got an incredible text.
The Arizona Coyotes suffered a last minute injury and needed a goal right away. Nathan raced to the arena 30 minutes before puck drop, suited up and served as the Coyotes backup during their 6-2 romp of the Montreal Canadiens.
What an amazing experience.
The Coyotes showed Nathan a great night awarding him their player of the game award (the Yotes use a wrestling belt on their team), and allowed him to stay up with the team today to take morning skate while the AHL backup was travelling.
Niklas Treutle is on way to AZ & won't make practice.— Yotes (@ArizonaCoyotes) February 16, 2016
So, Nathan Schoenfeld will practice w/the team today instead of working at the bank.
Hey Jim Benning…. me or Captain Scotty are both available if another Canuck takes a puck to the jaw.
