I was reading the British news site the Telegraph today and saw they had a story on a relic from our past, the McBarge.
Remember the McBarge from Expo ’86? It was McDonald’s fast food joint on the high seas. Built for $8 million dollars, the restaurant has been left to rot in the Burrard Inlet. Unlike other Vancouver real estate, one of the few missed investment opportunities.
The restaurant does surface into the collective consciousnesses from time-to-time. Like when some dudes broke in to eat cheeseburgers.
Or the story of the guy towing it out to Maple Ridge for a refit.
Now our great piece of history has taken over the imagination of the international media!
