Thom Yorke is auctioning off the handwritten lyrics to “Airbag,” the song that opens Radiohead’s third full length album, 1997’s OK Computer. The lyrics are inscribed on the inside cover of Yorke’s heavily annotated copy of the William Blake poetry collection Songs of Innocence and Experience. The full lyrics written on the cover differ slightly from the final version on the song recording, and the in-progress lyrics jotted down in the margins of poems in the book give a glimpse of Yorke’s creative process.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the charity Oxfam, whose mission is to “help create lasting solutions to the injustice of poverty.”
