Blink-182 vocalist-bassist Mark Hoppus appears in “Stuck,” the new music video from Day Wave, parodying a recent viral video of a priest viewing a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Regarding the collaboration, Hoppus tells Pitchfork, “I first discovered Day Wave when Apple Music launched and ‘Drag’ was featured on the front page. I instantly loved the song and got the EP. Later, [frontman] Jackson [Phillips] and I became friends on Twitter, and he hit me up about being in the video for ‘Stuck’. We went to our friend’s office and shot it one morning in March. Of course I’m stoked and honoured to be part of the timeless legacy this song is about to become.”
Jackson adds, “The Blink-182 videos were always hilarious so I had the idea of asking if Mark would be interested in helping out with a Day Wave video. He was down, so from there we had our director Ryan Baxley come up with the treatment. Mark only did about 5 takes and they were all so funny. After a couple of takes Mark suggested that I sit in the background, but I was afraid I would be laughing the whole time. Takes 23 I couldn’t keep it together, but fortunately we got it pretty quickly.”
