3 members of UBC’s 2015 Vanier Cup champion Thunderbirds are off to the New York Giants’ NFL rookie camp.
Taylor Loffler, Quinn Van Gylswyk, and Terrell Davis will all get a chance to try and earn an NFL contract.
“My agent called me up and said do you want to go to New York for the Giants mini-camp? I didn’t know what to say. I was speechless,” said Davis from his home in Victoria. “This is something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little kid.”
“It’s amazing, just having the opportunity to go down there,” said Loffler. “It’s been my goal for a long time to make it in the NFL so it’s a good stepping stone. I’ve just got to go and show them what I got.”
The T-Birds won their first championship in 20 years on a thrilling last second field goal from Quinn Van Gylswyk. That sort of poise will get you noticed.
US pro football traditionally recruit from American colleges, but the New York Giants make a habit of checking out the great white north for some undiscovered talent.
