Coldplay released their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, last December, and Chris Martin thinks it will likely be the band’s final album (or at least their final conventional album).
“We’re comfortable with being who we are at the moment,” Martin said in a recent interview. “I think when we let go of the idea we had to try and win everyone over I think that was really liberating.”
The frontman continued, “I’d be surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album. I just feel like we’re right where we’re supposed to be right now. I meant what I said to you a couple of years ago I feel like this is a closing chapter of something. I stand by that I’m afraid.”
“I don’t think we’d split up as a band so hopefully we’ll try to work out something to do at some point. But also part of me right now just feels like yeah seven albums, that’s great and they form a kind of circle and they all make sense to me now and I feel really proud of them,” Martin says.
Martin also mentioned the forthcoming video for Head Full of Dreams single “UpUp,” saying, “The video is – I’m gonna drop the mic and say I think it’s one of the best videos people have made. Even if you take the music away.”
