Danny Boyle’s sequel to the 1996 cult favourite, Trainspotting, begins filming today.
The movie picks up 20 years with the original cast of Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.
The film is rumoured to be loosely base don the 2002 book Porno by Irvin Welsh. In that novel, the book follows the character Renton who has kicked heroine and owns a club in Amsterdam. Sick Boy wants to make a porno film and Renton agrees to finance in return for a cut of the profits.
In a statement earlier this year, Danny Boyle said, “It’s been 20 years since we met these characters and John Hodge’s screenplay brilliantly explores what’s happened to them — and to us — in the intervening years. We are grateful to Tom and Hannah for their support and we can’t wait to get going.”
And yup… the trailer used the iconic Iggy Pop tune, “Lust for Life.”
