You’ve heard the story all over the place today.
I urge you to actually read about it in full detail before making your conclusions – and even then, it’s a serious grey area.
Coles Notes are that a 4 year old boy wandered into a gorilla’s area at the zoo. The gorilla took hold of the child and would not let go. Zoo officials shot and killed the gorilla – which was an endangered species.

Now here are a few points – Tranquilizers? No. Apparently it takes too long to fully sedate an animal of that size, and instead we would get a large angry gorilla, mad at being shot at. Holding a kid.
Imagine it was YOUR child… YOUR kid being dragged by a 400lb animal with no idea what they were thinking…
It’s all fair and easy to say “he (the gorilla) shouldn’t be a in a zoo anyways” or “why wasn’t the mother watching her kid better” which are both 100% accurate, but unfortunately we don’t have time machines and we ended up where we ended up – which is tragic and devastating and a decision had to be made.
I’m completely torn on this one.
