Friend-of-the-show Justine sent over another beauty music science story for us.
This study is great. Scientists, working the best gig in the world, took a bunch of people. Gave them beer and had them rate the experience based on a few different environments.
People were given a beer in a bottle with no label.
Beer with a label.
Beer with a label while listening to Editors “Oceans of Light.”
People listening to music reported the greatest enjoyment of the beer.
The lead researcher from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and KU Leuven, Dr. Felipe Reinoso Cavalho said,
“We have been able to see that people tend to feel more pleasure when experiencing beverages along with sounds that are part of the beverage’s identity.
“In this case, we have shown that people that previously knew the song that was used in the experiment, not only liked the multisensory experience of drinking beer more while listening to it, but they also liked the beer itself more.
“It seems that the added pleasure that the song brought into the experience was transferred into the beer’s flavor.”
