Yesterday (Saturday, September 24th, 2016), Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ turned 25.
To celebrate (and remember the band that was) an old video has been dusted off and is once again going viral.
Here’s the scenario:
A bunch of up and coming bands are playing a gig together in Boston.
The “rising bands” included the Smashing Pumpkins (who had just released ‘Gish’) and Nirvana, who were just one day away from releasing ‘Nevermind’.
No one realized at the time that these two bands were about to become world famous.
After the bands had wrapped up their gig, they wandered over to ‘Bill’s Bar’ for some post-show drinks.
Enter MTV, a TV channel that legitimately covered the music scene.
MTV producers were hoping to stage and film the band members playing a round of “Cisco Twister.”
It may not have turned out the way MTV had wanted it to, but it made for a weird and interesting video.
Check it out.
