A company called Modern Nativity has created a “Hipster Nativity Set” that shows what the birth of Jesus might have looked like if it was set in today’s Brooklyn.
Because it’s 2016 and everyone wakes up each day ready to be offended, it’s drawn some negative reactions. The creator says the idea came from a joking happy hour discussion with friends over drinks about how religions would be different if their sacred texts were set in modern times.
The set sells for $129.99. Among the figures featured are three wise men who arrive at the solar-powered manger on Segways carrying Amazon Prime boxes, and a holy family made up of Joseph with a man bun and Mary drinking a latte while they take a selfie with the baby Jesus.
