According to the internet movie database there are three rules for looking after a Mogwai: (1) no bright light, (2) don’t get him wet, and (3) never feed him after midnight, no matter how much he begs. Bright light hurts him, and sunlight can kill him. If he gets wet, he pops out more mogwais. If fed after midnight, a mogwai will spin a cocoon and undergo metamorphosis, turning into a wicked, troublemaking gremlin.
Shout out to my friend Misty who sent me a link to this story about the Gremlins soundtrack being reissued on vinyl!
Mondo has been on a role reissuing classic movie soundtracks on vinyl (recently they put Fight Club’s 1999 OST on vinyl for the first time) and putting out modern favourites like Jessica Jones and Daredevil.
Today you can order the Gremlins 1984 OST as a 2XLP set. The album features a novel gimmick. If you blast the cover with some UV light, it exposes hidden images. The two disc sleeves reveal even more when dampened. BUT as Mondo says: Water and Hot temperatures are as bad for Records as they are for Gremlins, so please be mindful when playing these records
The design work for this beautiful vinyl set was done by Toronto’s Phantom City Creative!
