The Battle of Dunkirk was fought on the Western Front of World War II in May and June of 1940. The German army had overrun Allied armies in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France and eventually trapped British and other Allied armies at a place called Dunkirk.
The British were forced to evacuate the British Expeditionary Force hastily from France. After 8 days, 338,226 soldiers were brought back to England safely.
Today we get our first official trailer for Christopher Nolan’s epic retelling of Dunkirk. Consequence of Sound said, “Nolan shot the movie on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film stock. He also reconditioned actual warships for the shoot, including the French Navy destroyer Maillé-Brézé, and reportedly spent $5 million on a vintage aircraft which he destroyed during shooting.”
The movie features Tom Hardy (I think he’s flying a warplane in the trailer?) and marks the acting debut of One Directioner Harry Styles.
