One festival dies, another charges into the gap. I saw some posts from the band PUP hyping their next visit to Vancouver. They’re coming to town for a show with Touche Amore (great band as well) to play the inaugural Westward Music Festival.
The festival is an urban party that takes place over three days in September (14-17). Basically a bunch of venues in the city host concerts, you get a wristband and bounce around to events.
Their website says,
On the weekend of September 14-17, Westward Music Festival will take over multiple downtown Vancouver music venues featuring 15 live music events. Celebrating the spirit of Vancouver and it’s world-class music scene, shows will feature multi-genre line ups that will all take place within a 2.5km radius of one another at venues such as the Vogue Theatre (open to all ages), Biltmore Cabaret, The Imperial Theatre and Fox Cabaret, with a two-day outdoor event at the Red Truck Brewery back lot.
The format reminds me of Victoria’s Rifflandia. Having partied at that festival more than a few times, I can imagine this weekend being pretty fun.
That PUP and Touche Amore show right off the hop will be worth your rock loving time.
