A super Harry Potter fan made a trailer for a prequel involving the rise of Voldemort that started making traction over the weekend.
It’s now been confirmed that a full length film has been green-lit. Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir started as a crowdfunding campaign from a film company after they created the trailer for what they wanted to make. At one point Warner Brothers had contacted them over copyright issues, but now seems to have changed their tune seeing the popularity of it.
Director Gianmaria Pezzato of Tryangle Films confirmed that they “had a private and confidential discussion with Warner Bros who contacted us during the period of the crowdfunding campaign,” director Gianmaria Pezzato told Polygon via email. “The only thing we can say is that they let us proceed with the film, in a non profit way, obviously.”
The film will be on YouTube and they hope to have it done by the end of 2017.
