Food artist and commercial director David Ma answered this unnecessary yet totally awesome question: “What if famous film directors made food recipe videos?” And the results are deliciously mesmerizing!
In only about a minute, Ma is able to recreate the look and feel of a famous director’s signature style, like Tarantino’s gore and grit in ‘Spaghetti & Meatballs’.
Or simply the cinematography of a single movie, like Alfonso Cuaron’s weightless ‘Gravity’, mimicked in the equally magnificent ‘Pancakes’.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a famous movie director compilation without the adrenaline-fueled stylings of Michael Bay. Making waffles has never been so intense.
Finally, my favourite director, Wes Anderson-inspired s’mores, which is like the perfect mini-mix of Moonrise Kingdom (duh, camp/s’mores) meets The Grand Budapest Hotel. It’s a beauty.
What director-inspired foodie film would you want to see?
We’re thinking Scorsese directs Chicken Alfredo… or just chocolate chip cookies. Ya, we wanna see the Scorsese cookies!
Check out David Ma’s Instagram page for a ton of other beautifully conceptualized food vids. Like this Ironman inspired one where he cuts the steak with a laser. I mean, what more could you want?
