Today, William Patrick Corgan (we call him Billy) released a VR experience video for his new single called ‘Aeronaut’ (off his new solo album ‘Ogilala’).
The 2D VR video takes us on a psychedelic journey through a virtual world created with the help of San Francisco artist-filmmaker Danny Bittman and his collaborators Viacom NEXT and Isboar.
‘Aeronaut’ features a hologram created with Microsoft Mixed Reality Capture technology, which was used to capture Corgan’s performance in volumetric video.
It also incorporates innovative technologies from Google and Unity Technologies (using Unity creation engine and Tilt Brush to design the digital landscapes).
The full VR experience will be available in early 2018.
It was designed for room scale systems (mostly for Microsoft Mixed Reality headsets)with added versions for other systems soon to follow.
Enough of this tech talk!
‘Ogilala’ marks Corgan’s first solo LP in over a decade (and first as William Patrick Corgan).
The song itself is awesome.
