When it was announced in January of 2016 that Slash and Duff were rejoining Guns N’ Roses and that they’d be playing Coachella and embarking on a world tour, I honestly thought it would implode by now. Hell, I didn’t think they’d make it to the Seattle show in August of 2016.
But it’s still going. Still going without incident. No reports of in-fighting, no temper tantrums, no walking off the stage in the middle of the show, no showing up super late, no cancellations. Nothing you’d normally associate with a GNR tour. Maybe they’ve grown up. Maybe the money helps.
The Not In This Lifetime… Tour has raked in US$475 million and counting and is now the 4th highest earning tour ever with still another European leg to go through June and July.
Next on the list is Coldplay’s Head Full of Dreams tour from 2016-17 that that raked in US$523 million, second is The Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang tour from 2005-07 that made US$558 million, and U2 has the highest grossing tour ever making US$736 million in their 360° stadium tour from 2009-11.
